Parkside Families are Great

Principal's Message

Dear Parkside Families,

We are fast approaching our spring intersession which will begin on March 26.  Students and staff will return to school on April 16.  However, there are some important events that will be happening at Parkside during the next few weeks.  On March 6, 4th grade students will be taking their STAR writing test.  For all fourth grade parents, please make sure that your child is fully rested, has a healthy and protein rich breakfast and is given lots of encouragement from you on the 6th.

On March 13-15, there will be minimum days for parent/teacher conferences (students will be released at 12:10 pm).  Please note that not all families will have a conference with their child's teacher.  You will be notified if your child's teacher would like to schedule a conference with you.  On March 16, report cards will be sent home with your child.

On March 22, we hope to see all families at our Open House.  This evening gives all of you the opportunity to visit your child's classroom to see  the important learning that is taking place here at Parkside.  We will send home more details about the evening in the Wednesday envelope.

When we return from intersession, our 2nd-5th grade staff and students will be gearing up for the STAR testing.  Teachers will be sending home suggestions on how you can help your child be successful on the test.

One last piece of news--many of our Parkside students will be forging a relationship with students at Ueno School in Japan.  Ueno School is located in Toyonaka City which is San Mateo's sister city.  We are looking forward to building this new relationship with students abroad.

Please enjoy your 3 week intersession.

Warm regards,

Ms. Fukumoto

About Parkside

Year-round calendar: Traditional and Montessori classes.

We are proud of our calendar that is good for students. With a shorter summer break and an additional October break, there is less time to forget what was learned and less need for review at the beginning of quarters. Plus there is more time to participate in Enrichment activities. We are also proud of our Montessori Magnet Program within our neighborhood school. For more Montessori information, click the Montessori newsletter link. Also, Parkside Elementary School's long history of successful students stems from our incredible staff and the enormous support of parents. Click on the How You Can Help Now menu button.

Instructional Supply Donations

March/April Life Skill - Trustworthiness

Each month, students learn about a new life skill.  Life skills are character traits that make us caring and responsible people.  Please remember to ask your child about the life skill that he/she is currently learning.

For the months of March and April, we are helping students to understand that...Trust means that people can count on them to do the right thing and to say things that are true even when no one sees them.
